About Us

- Leadership

Message from the President, Moira Taylor

St. Mary's General Hospital is a leader in the provision of adult acute care to the residents of Waterloo Region and beyond.  At the heart of our success are our staff, physicians and volunteers, who together exemplify living our Mission by providing quality, compassionate and innovative care every day.

As home to the Regional Cardiac Care Centre, St. Mary's has quickly developed a reputation for excellence. Our full-service program continues to grow as we work to ensure our community has access to "close-to-home" cardiac care. In addition to our tertiary cardiac program, St. Mary's is developing Centres of Excellence in Thoracic Surgery and Respirology, Minimal Invasive Surgery, Ophthalmology and Urology. Our vision to provide "high-tech, high-touch" care is evidenced in our fully digital Radiology and Nuclear Medicine departments which support all inpatient and outpatient programs at St. Mary's.

To accommodate our significant growth and meet the needs of our growing community, St. Mary's is in the final stage of our historic $100 million redevelopment project.  We proudly opened 100,000 square feet of new space in May, and look forward to completion of further renovations by the Spring of 2009.

St. Mary’s is an organization committed to research, teaching and continued learning. As a member of the St. Joseph's Health System, St. Mary's is affiliated with the Father Sean O'Sullivan Research Centre at St. Joseph's Healthcare in Hamilton. This affiliation allows us the benefits of a full-time researcher on our staff and access to one of Canada's leading teaching and research facilities.

For more than 80 years, St. Mary's has been delivering care based on the values and spirit of our founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Hamilton. We are honoured to continue "leading our community in health care".

Moira Taylor,

President
