The incidence of cardiovascular disease continues to rise across Canada. In many instances the presence of cardiac disease is a direct result of lifestyle choices we make, i.e. smoking, poor diet or overeating and physical inactivity. Despite increased awareness on making healthy lifestyle choices, there remains many actions we can embrace to help prevent cardiac disease. Yet, evidence suggests that we continue to be at increased risk as seen in the rise in obesity rates among men, increased diabetes in children, and increased high blood pressure in adult populations.
