Counselling Service – Problem Gambling Program

Comprehensive assessment and counseling is offered in both individual and group formats for anyone experiencing problems regarding gambling, i.e. casino, horse-racing, sports betting, bingo, lottery, scratch and break-open tickets. Topics covered include: recognizing recreational versus problem gambling, learning basic tactics to cut back and/or stop gambling, identifying triggers leading to relapse and making lifestyle changes. Counsellors assist individuals to choose and achieve their goals, which may include community supports, individual and group counseling, or referrals to residential treatment programs. Family members or friends concerned about someone else’s gambling behaviour can obtain information and support by phone, individual consultation or group counseling. Problem gambling services are offered in Kitchener and Cambridge offices.
