Join Our Board of Trustees

Are you interested in being involved in an organization committed to compassionate, high quality and equitable care?

St. Mary’s General Hospital’s (SMGH) vision is: Inspiring Excellence. Healthier Together. Our Board of Trustees (Board) is seeking talented, engaged members of our community to join in the pursuit of this vision by participating as voluntary members on our Board and/or as community representatives on Board Committees. This is a unique time following the extraordinary experience of the COVID-19 pandemic and the regeneration that will be required in the next few years. Our values of compassion, respect, inclusion, integrity, collaboration, and innovation unite us as a SMGH team including the members of the Board. Learn more about our Strategic Plan ‘Inspiring Excellence. Healthier Together’.

Our governance structure consists of a Board and three Board Committees. Currently, we are looking for Board and Board Committee members, to fill a minimum of five vacant positions. More information about the board committees, specific skills we’re seeking and what is required is available: General Information About the SMGH Board for Potential Applicants.

A strategic focus of our Board is a commitment to ensuring SMGH is delivering high quality care in an equitable way to all members of the community we serve. We cannot understate the importance of providing a safe, open, and inclusive environment for all needing care at SMGH. The Board and management team are actively focused on understanding how to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion through our work. We have initiated work to educate ourselves on how our community is changing and to be better informed for the expanding healthcare needs of our community.  We have defined actions towards Truth and Reconciliation recognizing the tragic history and continued hardships faced by Indigenous communities.  We have also initiated community outreach understanding the historic and ongoing systemic racism and marginalization many members of our community face and the need to build trust within these communities.  We have much more work to do.

The Board is seeking applications from all areas of our diverse community, including members from all faiths.  In addition, all Board members are expected to commit to the values represented in our Mission.

If you would like to be a part of a dynamic and committed volunteer Board that will help forge the future of acute health care in our community, please apply in writing by April 29th.

Please include your qualifications, experience, and the names of three personal references to:
