COVID-19 outbreaks declared over on St. Mary's fourth floor and Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD)
February 11, 2022
In consultation with Region of Waterloo Public Health, St. Mary’s is declaring an end to our remaining COVID-19 outbreaks in our fourth floor and Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD). This is wonderful news and is the work of many whose tireless efforts have allowed us to share this news today.
In total, the outbreak impacted eight staff and two patients on 400, and five staff in our MDRD. We know how difficult this has been for our staff and patients. We extend out utmost gratitude to you all.
As of today:
- Diligence with universal masking and face shields continues.
- Droplet contact precautions in addition to N95 or half-mask respirator required for any patients suspect or COVID positive, and for all aerosol-generating medical procedures, regardless of infection status.
- Staff can float to other units.
- Care Partner visits can resume to the current approved care partner guidelines.
- The importance of physical distancing is enforced.
- Enhanced cleaning will continue throughout the unit.
Thank you for your support as we cared for our patients and each other.???????
