Elizabeth Witmer, St. Mary’s General Hospital Board Member, Appointed to The Order of Ontario
The Order of Ontario, the highest official honour in the province, acknowledges individuals who have shown exceptional excellence and achievement in any field, benefiting either the people of Ontario or the global community. Its members, distinguished citizens of Ontario, have played a significant role in shaping the province's history and its position within Canada.
We are delighted that Elizabeth Witmer has been included in the 2022 Order of Ontario appointees.
In addition to serving on our Board of Trustees, among other accomplishments, she holds a position on The Global Health Advisory Board, the KidsAbility Centre for Child Development Board, and is a Former Deputy Premier, Minister of Health, and Chair of the WSIB.
Over the years, she has demonstrated unwavering dedication as a volunteer and leader in the Waterloo Region. Her remarkable contributions have been recognized through various prestigious accolades, including the Paul Harris Fellowship Award from Rotary, the Social Work Doctors Award for her unwavering commitment to a fair and compassionate society, the 2013 Kitchener-Waterloo Citizen of the Year Award, and the Asthma Society of Canada Innovation in Public Policy Award in 2014 for her instrumental role in initiating Ontario's coal phase-out.
