Screening Precautions for Coronavirus Underway at St. Mary’s
As has been widely reported, a new coronavirus was discovered in Wuhan, China in late 2019, and there has been limited person-to-person transmission. The new strain of coronavirus is called Novel Coronavirus-Wuhan (nCov).
Ontario’s Ministry of Health has created a dedicated web page where you can learn more about this coronavirus and find daily updates. The risk to Canadians remains low.
St. Mary’s General Hospital is following guidance from the Ministry of Health and taking precautions by adding screening questions specific to this coronavirus to our routine travel and symptom screening. Protocols are in place to appropriately isolate and test any patients requiring investigation.
More information on the corona virus can also be found on the Public Health Agency of Canada website.
