Respiratory & Thoracic Care
St. Mary’s General Hospital is a Centre of Excellence for Respiratory and Thoracic Care and a Level One Thoracic Surgery Centre.
The Chest Program offers specialized inpatient, outpatient and outreach services for Waterloo-Wellington and beyond.
Our Chest Unit is located on the sixth floor. The Chest Unit also includes an intermediate care area, which is designed specifically for post-operative and/or acutely ill patients.
Several respirologists serve St. Mary’s, providing highly specialized care for inpatients and outpatients.
Our thoracic surgeons offer expertise in a wide range of serious disease and surgical specialties. St. Mary’s also works in partnership with Grand River Hospital’s regional cancer program for rapid assessment and treatment of thoracic malignancies.
Our outpatient programs include asthma education, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease activation, smoking cessation counseling and an adult cystic fibrosis clinic.
