St. Mary's Hospital Watercolour Painting and Limited Edition Prints

St. Mary's General Hospital invites local artists to submit their interest to create a watercolour painting of St. Mary's General Hospital (SMGH).

The subject of the artwork is to be a recognizable portrayal of the existing SMGH building, at 911 Queen's Boulevard, Kitchener.

Art Requirements:

  • We are seeking an original watercolour painting, and limited reproduction series of fifteen (15) of the painting
  • The art piece must be no smaller than 8.5x11 in., and no larger than 11x17 in.
  • The front of the artwork, not the matte, must be visible signed, dated and the edition numbered on all reproductions
  • Five (5) of the reproductions must be framed with matting, on an agreed upon style and size between the artist and the hospital, not to exceed 18x24 in. The framing must include acid-free matting, and non-glare glass.
  • The five framed reproductions, 10 unframed reproductions and the one original artwork must all be delivered on time. The framed reproductions must be framed and matted as agreed upon, with hardware secured, ready to hang.

For this project, we are seeking artwork suitable to be presented as a gift for members of our Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders as identified. This art will allow invested Board members to reflect on their time serving the hospital, before SMGH and Grand River Hospital relocate into a new, joint acute care institution.

Budget:

The budget for this commission is up to $1500, including the original watercolour, framing of five reproductions and 10 unframed reproductions. Payment will be provided upon delivery on or before February 28th, 2023.
