Grand River and St. Mary’s General hospitals appoint new Vice President to oversee joint hospital project
Grand River and St. Mary’s General Hospitals are excited to welcome Cliff Harvey as the new Joint VP Redevelopment, leading the Building the Future of Care Together initiative. This new role is an important investment and milestone for the community toward the hospitals’ shared vision for a new hospital in Waterloo Region, and revitalization of existing infrastructure.
Cliff brings extensive experience and success in leading communities through new hospital developments, honed through his many years of work across the provincial government and other health systems. He has served as a Senior Architect in the Ontario Government, a hospital Vice President, and a practicing architect. Through these experiences, Cliff brings depth in community engagement, health systems design, infrastructure standards and knowledge of how to advance through the key planning and approval stages of hospital redevelopment.
“We are very excited to welcome Cliff to this project,” says Mark Fam, President of St. Mary’s General Hospital. “He brings an expertise that will significantly advance our shared hospital redevelopment efforts, and skills well-deserved by our community. Cliff’s human-focused approach to projects seeks active engagement from all stakeholders, and his keen understanding of current and emerging government priorities for hospital redevelopment will help set this project up for success.”
“Our communities need to continue to have a voice in this process, and to feel a sense of pride and ownership over the final project,” adds Ron Gagnon, President & CEO, Grand River Hospital. “Cliff’s approach to project management will ensure this happens as we strive to deliver world-class health care for all, right here in our communities.”
The Building the Future of Care Together project was conceived of to address the system-wide healthcare realities and challenges. Committed to addressing both current and emerging health needs, the plan involves the revitalization of existing hospital spaces, as well as the development of a new, joint hospital building. It is currently in the site selection phase.
