Revenues generated from both our Visitor and Team Member parking lots are directed right back into the hospital, helping to pay for things such as parking lot maintenance as well as supporting patient care services.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) oversees rate increases for parking at hospitals based on several factors, including inflation. The increase allows us to keep with the acceptable rate increase range allowed by the MOH, as well as other hospitals locally, and across the province.

Pay Stations
To exit the Visitors' Lot, you will first need to pay for parking at one of the Pay Stations located inside the hospital. It's important that you remember to bring the parking ticket that you received when entering the lot with you. There are two Pay Stations located in the Main Entrance Lobby by Switchboard and one located inside the Emergency Department Entrance. You can pay by cash, credit or debit at the Pay Stations.
There are volunteers who will help you at the Pay Stations and if needed, you can push the “assistance” button and Security will support you.
St. Mary's does offer discounted rates for patients who have long-term stays with the hospital. HPasses can be purchased at Switchboard 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Construction Parking
The City of Kitchener has closed Patricia Avenue from Highland Road to Queens Boulevard until the end of September 2024, including the full intersection closure of Spadina Road West and Patricia Avenue. This construction is necessary for road reconstruction and infrastructure upgrades. During this period, access to St. Mary’s General Hospital Patient and Visitor's parking will be available via Queen’s Boulevard to Spadina Road West.
For all parking inquiries, please contact parking@smgh.ca. All parking inquiries will be responded to within one to two business days.
Revenue from parking fees is used to maintain parking lots and for patient care services.
