Eye Surgery

Home to the Regional Eye Program, Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) provides medical and surgical eye care to patients in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and surrounding areas. Specializing in cataract surgery, our surgical team works with patients to restore vision and prevent blindness.

 

Waterloo Regional Health Network joined a partnership in May 2021 with TLC Vision, an off-site provider of vision care services, to help patients waiting for cataract procedures to receive surgical procedures sooner. All care provided through this partnership is through the eye care program at WRHN, meeting the same standards of high-quality care.

This off-site WRHN program treats patients with the least-complex cataract needs, who are already on a waiting list. Physicians will direct the choice of location at the time of the initial consultation at WRHN. Accreditation standards are still met for the level of procedures being done and all physicians are fully credentialed by Waterloo Regional Health Network standards.

  • About the Waterloo Regional Eye Program: Several of the ophthalmologists at WRHN are part of the Waterloo Regional Eye Program. The program provides education on eye diseases and treatments, helps patients find the right eye doctor, wait times and more.
  • Cataract Surgery Wait Times: Wait times are managed by the Waterloo Regional Eye Program and can be viewed online. Wait times for cataract surgery are updated monthly, with wait 1 representing how long it takes in days to get in to see the surgeon in the office, and wait 2, how long it takes after that to get in for surgery.
  • Lens Costs & Upcoming Appointments: If you have questions regarding lens costs or your appointment date or time please contact your Ophthalmologist.
