Eye Surgery

St. Mary’s is home to the Waterloo Regional Eye Program that provides medical and surgical eye care to patients in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, and surrounding areas. Specializing in cataract surgery, our surgical team works with patients to restore vision and prevent blindness.

St. Mary’s General Hospital joined a partnership in May 2021 with TLC Vision, an off-site provider of vision care services, to help patients waiting for cataract procedures to receive surgical procedures sooner. All care provided through this partnership is through St. Mary’s eye care program meeting the same standards of high-quality care.

This off-site St. Mary’s program treats patients with the least-complex cataract needs, who are already on a St. Mary’s waiting list. Physicians will direct the choice of location at the time of the initial consultation at St. Mary’s. Accreditation standards are still met for the level of procedures being done and all physicians are fully credentialed by St. Mary’s and Grand River Hospital standards.
